Additional Garmin® eTrex Vista® GPS Information

Garmin eTrex Vista GPS with built-in barometric altimeter and electronic compass! The eTrex Vista combines a basemap of North and South America, with a barometric altimeter and electronic compass. The compass provides bearing information while you're standing still and the altimeter determines your precise altitude. The Vista is also designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data obtained from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). Provides position accuracy to less than 3 meters when receiving WAAS corrections. The eTrex Vista also boasts an internal memory capacity of 24 MB, which allows it to accept downloaded mapping data from Garmin's MapSource CD-ROMs, including U.S. Regional Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots. A silver case gives this unit a high-tech look. New... this model includes marine aids to navigation in addition to the basemap. These navigational aids are pre-loaded so your GPS is ready to use right out of the box! Order Today! Garmin eTrex Vista GPS

What Customers Say About Garmin® eTrex Vista® GPS:

It is totally obsolete and can not work with anything but an old PC. This GPS does not have a USB cord. I would give it half a star if I could.

But for the right price, this is a great option for a hiker, geocacher, or interstate driver. While I never purchased the available detailed road maps, the included base map shows towns and major highways, and was more than enough on cross-country drives to estimate times of arrival -- "Can we make it to Austin by evening, or should we look for a place to stay now." Made my trip much happier.I'd give the Vista five stars, but honestly it is a somewhat dated product. Garmin's first-generation eTrex Vista was my third handheld GPS, after a Magellan Explorist 200 and a Garmin Geko, and was by far my favorite of the three. Ability to upload topographic maps and waypoints by the hundreds, and a magnetic compass which can show direction even when you're not moving, make this a great geocaching tool. You'll need an adapter to connect it to a USB port, and it doesn't have the higher sensitivity of newer GPS units.

Not happy. Got the sorry sir from the company that shipped it but no bargining on the one I wanted or the one they sent me. I was very dissapointed when I recieved my Garmin GPS. I ordered a Garmin ETrek Vista which Amazon advertised for $89 which was an excellent bargin but when I recieved my gps, it was a generic which I could have bought for $69 at Home of Econcomy. They were good about sending me some prepaid UPS labels to sent it back to get my refund, which I had to travel 44 miles to the nearest UPS center but got things resloved.
